This past year, Michigan celebrated it’s inaugural festival with quite a debut. Put on by Madison House Productions of Boulder, Colo. and AEG Live , ROTHBURY was a festival designed to create 0% waste. Amazing huh?! Well – striving to find ways of making it as waste free as possible.

I had quite a time representing both Roving Festival Writer, LLC and WEMU 89.1, and part of my audio coverage was a series of interviews with some of the greatest musicians around.

My first interview posted is with the legendary Bettye Lavette. After listening to the podcast, you too will agree that the significance of her being asked to perform at the Yes We Can, free Lincoln Memorial concert for Barak Obama the day before the MLK’s birthday is just perfect.

Susan Tedeschi, the Grammy nominated bad-ass Mama (and wife of Derek Trucks), has to be one of the cutest ladies I have met. And I know some cute chicks, ay! With an ease to talk about her long and humble beginnings of becoming the guitar pro she is now, Susan and I chatted like gossip kids about her new studio out back and forthcoming recording process.

I had the AWESOME opportunity to chat with Derek Trucks, a guitar legend of my generation. Growing as a music enthusiast, I am always astonished at the growth Derek undertakes each round of touring. A slide guitarist that can alternate instruments with the best of them, while knowing how to softly take place with Robert Cray’s backing band for acts like Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood.
