Los Angeles-based online music company HELLO MUSIC will make its way east this month to participate in the CMJ Music Marathon with an event set for Wednesday, October 20 at Ace of Clubs (9 Great Jones St./East 3rd St., Manhattan).  Dedicated to connecting today’s best independent musical talent to real industry opportunities, HELLO MUSIC has tapped five emerging artists to perform during its showcase including New Look, Casxio, Gamble & Burke, The Bamboo Kids, Posso and Ben Talmi. In addition, HELLO MUSIC President John Boyle will be a featured panelist on the “Take A Left at the Label: D.T.F” panel, Friday, October 22.

“CMJ is one of the great exposure platforms for indie artists around the world,” said John Boyle. “We are thrilled to be part of CMJ 2010 and to be presenting five of our incredible discoveries during this showcase, as well as look forward to connecting with many of the CMJ artists and explore how we can help bring them opportunities.”

Canadian future pop duo New Look have been praised by U.K. tastemaker publication Dazed & Confused: “…New Look’s sound is indebted to early Janet Jackson and Rick James protégées the Mary Jane Girls, as well as the new electro-soul currently flourishing in Brooklyn…Underpinned by a sparse 80’s snap, New Look’s new soul works smooth Aphex Twin-esque ambience with sultry, synth-driven melodies that have a habit of breaking down mid song into a freakout dance jam.”).  Casxio is a refreshing divine fusion of disco, funk and rock n’ roll. Boston’s electro-pop and soul duo Gamble & Burke have been dazzling the likes of the BBC as well as blogs Sheena Beaston and Arjanwrites.com with their Kitsune single release “Let’s Go Together.”

Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, The Bamboo Kids mainline 1970’s garage rock on their current EP The Way Things ArePosso the DJ—the Los Angeles duo of Vanessa Giovacchini and Marylouise Pels whose unique palette for fashion and music has influenced a sound that is a sexy curation of nu-disco, house, funk, disco and dance—will DJ between sets.  And Ben Talmi is another Boston artist who created his debut EP For The Dreamers with just an acoustic guitar, moog synthesizer, a piano and his voice will be the first performer of the night.
