501C3 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION
RETURNS TO INDIO, CA FOR COACHELLA 2010
TRASHed::ART OF RECYCLING:
HELP DESIGN A RECYCLING BIN AND RECEIVE FREE TICKETS
DEEJAY AT THE FESTIVAL WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM YOUR FRIENDS
GLOBAL INHERITANCE will return to Indio, CA for the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA from Friday, April 16 – Sunday, April 18. The 501c3 non-profit organization works to reinvent activism and empower individuals to seek global balance through interactivity, inspiration and education. GLOBAL INHERITANCE will bring new artist-designed recycle bins to the Empire Polo Field as they celebrate the seventh year of TRASHed::Art of Recycling at the festival. They will also have a new installation at the festival this year: the Energy FACTory’s Sweat Shop Mixer.
Everyone from Hunter S. Thompson to pro-skateboarder Bob Burnquist has taken their turn in redesigning recycling bins during the past seven years of TRASHed::Art of Recycling. GLOBAL INHERITANCE, in conjunction with festival organizer Goldenvoice, invites artists to submit their artwork, redesigned recycle bin concept and/or website to Coachella@globalinheritance.org to be considered to design one of the 20 recycling bins featured at Coachella. The redesigned bins will also be placed in Los Angeles School District after the festival to inspire the future recyclers of the world. The 20 finalists will receive tickets and VIP passes for Coachella Festival 2010. Contest deadline is February 20.
Energy FACTory’s Sweat Shop Mixer will provide festival goers with an
opportunity to deejay a 30-minute set at the festival, using a Coachella-curated music hard drive… with a catch! Each person that signs up to deejay will need to bring 12 friends to generate the energy needed to power the equipment during the set by running on hamster wheels, riding bikes, turning hand cranks, riding seesaws among other things. Best sets each day will receive vip passes, food vouchers, dvd packs + more. There will be limited time slots available during the festival. Interested festivalgoers should send a link to their website/set to sweatshopMIXER@globalinheritance.org for consideration.
Other sustainability initiatives at Coachella 2010 include Carpoolchella and the 10 for 1 bottle exchange, both returning for the fourth year. Carpoolchella encourages fans to come to the festival in vehicles with four or more people, for the chance to win prizes including VIP passes for life. Encouraging concertgoers to keep the field trash-free, the 10 for 1 bottle exchange gives fans the opportunity to exchange 10 empty bottles of water for one new bottle. For more information on both programs and more, visit the sustainability section on Coachella.com.
