Bonnaroo Tick-Tock Lineup

That sweet photo of the “What Stage” at Bonnaroo was taken back in 2008 by a cool fella named Shawn Murnen.  We found the image randomly as a Google image search for Bonnaroo Stage, several result pages in; moreover, we’re not sure how he found us, but how awesome right?!  That is the sick power Bonnaroo has in bringing the community together.   Hope he decides to check back to our site often! :-)  We can’t thank him enough for the image as the trippy effect definitely lent itself perfectly to the whirlwind day of initial artist announcements for the 2010 lineup release.

We had a nice time Tweeting with the Bonnarooians out there!  We were right on some predictions.  Some we were wrong.  But we had a TON of fun!

Check Bonnaroo.com for the full initial line up :-)

Nice article about the lineup rollout :

No word on any bands this past week?

  2. Jay says:

You say 3 artist announcements, but there may be one main stage/tent announcement just to keep in mind. The other two may be Comedians and cafe acts.

    • admin says:

Very true, sir! Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope for at least one more BIG BANGIN roll-out of artists announcements.

HEY! You Inforooians out there… keep us posted at RFW too. That community at Inforoo keeps the whole party of Bonnaroo hype in the first place, so I am sure dish and word will be spreading around there!

TheRFW.com got MAD love for the Infooroo!

  3. Ok. I’ve been reading on here and on a few other places about the “2nd and 3rd annoucements”. is this something thats confirmed? not any bands, but the actual fact that there are more to be annouced or are ya’ll just being like the rest of us and hoping for something that saves this lineup?

    • admin says:

Bonnaroo ALWAYS announces more artists. Remember, they even called this an initial artist lineup (as they do every year). We also know of other bands playing, confirmed, that have yet to be officially announced. I think I mentioned in a response to another Bonnarooian on this thread that it was just two days before Bonnaroo 2009 that they announced Mr. Jimmy Buffet would be playing. Check out the wikipedia articles and you might be able to find a band count of performers from year to year and see the initial 2010 list is less than 2009 already. So more acts gotta be brought up. Think about it – how would they keep the hype and ticket sales going to bring more people if they gave us all the good stuff at once?

      • admin says:

Holy Cow! I counted about 140ish different acts in 2009 and only 90 something have been ‘officially’ released by Bonnaroo thus far. Marcus, my brother… we got a long way to go! BOOONNNNAAAROOOOO!!!!!! There is more HOTNESS on the way, trust me!

        • monster says:

Is there some “hotness” that you know about? Are you hiding something? Or is “trust me” a gut feeling? There just has to be a way to get AC/Superfly to book Pavement, has to be.

          • RFWriter says:

I have had the most fun chatting with everyone on this post! RFW knows something. We don’t know a lot of things. Yes, I am keeping it VERY vague, but just hold on to your socks. Know that more good things from Bonnaroo are on their way. We’ve heard rumors of some nice names for Comedy acts too.

  4. Shawn Shawn says:

hmm… i wonder where you got that picture from? oh i know its my avatar on inforoo, a picture i took at bonnaroo in 2008….

    • admin says:

Really? We found it on Google images and used it. We’ll be happy to source you :-) We’ll site the photo credit as Shawn :-)! If you prefer a different name, just let us know…got a website of photos? We can source that too! Thanks for stopping on over!

It’s a pretty sweet frickin picture, by the way!

      • Shawn Shawn says:

thanks – just site it shawn murnen, dont got any site though, ive done some pictures for a few of my friends.

glad you like the picture. if i ever get into taking pictures seriously and get a site ill let you know.

  5. Chris says:

So far, you’ve been the best blog about this stuff. Kudos.

How’s the outlook on My Morning Jacket and Pavement?

    • admin says:

Thanks Chris! Kudos to you knowing your stuff in the music community because I doubt you would say a nice comment like that without knowing the happenin’ on music publications. Hope you stop by again. We’re not sure on My Morning Jacket or Pavement. Those were something we got from a friend of ours and never received FULL CONFIRMATION from either the bands management and/or publicist or another confirmed site. For that reason, we leaked it was possible on Twitter that they would show; however, kept that crazy question mark next to their name the entire day because it was only speculation we hadn’t nailed in the coffin. BUT! If they are announced in Round 2… you know where you head it first.
I’m Just sayin… Hope you visit us again! I just mentioned above we’re doing ticket giveaways for some festivals this summer in a couple months. Be sure to stop by and keep an eye open for details :-)

      • monster says:

Is there any way we can find out for certain whether Pavement will be playing or not? If they play, I will be satisfied. If a handful of relevant bands that are actually releasing some anticipated albums this play, I will excited. I just nned to know if Pavement will/will not beplaying. That is my deciding factor

        • admin says:

We’ll do what we can to find out for sure. PROMISE! As soon as we do, we’ll send you and the others on the comment thread a personal email out of solid respect to be the first ones to know! Here is what I am wondering myself – will Pavement and Soundgarden not be on the Bonnaroo lineup but headlining Lollapalooza instead? Think about it – the three of them (including Jane’s Addiction) would be a 90s super force festival. Both Soundgarden and Pavement said they were reuniting in 2010… so we shall see.

      • Chris says:

First off, thank you for responding. I think that’s awesome that you take the time to do that. Also, thank you for the compliment.

I’ll definitely be checking back daily. Let us know if you hear anything!

  6. moth in the incubator says:

I also want to mention that you guys did a great job on your information. All the officially confirmed announcements were ones you got right on. I didn’t know about this blog until yesterday but it’s quickly become a highly trusted music site for me now. Hope your 100% remains when Bonnaroo’s next lineup announcements come around.

    • admin says:

We’re raising our hands as if this were a hold up and saying, “We make no guarantees.” To be honest, we don’t know if we’ll be able to get the scoop again simply because Bonnaroo made an agreement bands could announce to their fans, whenever they wanted, if they were going to be playing or not. So with that freedom, we were able to find out a lot of confirmations before the official Mspace roll out. WITH THAT SAID – I am sure the rest of the bands might be in a secret drawer with sealed lips, not able to leak the information. We just knew how to contact and WHO to contact to find the first round confirmations out. The second round is still unknown…even to us.

    • admin says:

And also “Mouth in the Incubator,” thanks for stumbling over to the site. We all have worked in the music industry as both bloggers and professionals for YEARS now. We put a lot of work into providing fun information that isn’t pretentious or force feed opinions like other music blogs or publications. Stick around and stop by again. We’ll be doing festival ticket giveaways this year too!

  7. John says:

Do you think any of the additional lineup announcements will be headliner types? I know Bonnaroo doesn’t normally add those type of performers after their initial release, but there’s been a pretty big outcry from the roo’ers after yesterdays lineup announcements. Just curious on your sites thought.

    • admin says:

To be honest with you, we got a chunk of our information confirmed just within the 48 hours prior to the official lineup release. We were nervous about releasing some names, but if we knew it for sure than we were going to publish. Remember last year, Bonnaroo announced just two days before the actual show happened, Jimmy Buffet would be playing…so we’re POSITIVE more big names are being held as secrets!

  8. ALXRSE says:

Could you update the post with predictions for Phase 2 lineup announcement?

    • admin says:

HA! Funny you say that. We’re in the midst of calling around and getting some leaked confirmations to let everybody know. We’re thinking that a handful of our anticipated lineup announcements that weren’t officially announced yesterday are being held for the second and third lineup announcements. We’ll keep you posted. Just keep checking TheRFW.com for new updates. :-)

  9. Jeff says:

John Butler Trio has not been confirmed on the Bonnaroo site…

    • admin says:

His reps confirmed it with us though. Shhhh! You heard it hear first before the next official lineup release ;-) That is confirmed for several of the acts listed that aren’t on the official list yet. Some inside love from TheRFW.com to you.

AH! Thanks! That means a lot. We work hard to find out this kind of information. A lot of question marks still, but we’ll see how it turns out. We weren’t wrong on one thing we predicted (from reliable sources in the industry)…so far!
